Boson City Councilor Says He Wanted To Shoot Zoom Images Not College Profs - by Geneva Bell (AP) 1 Aug 2020

 Police Accountability Meeting

On July 18, 2020, Boson Republican City Councilor Frank Gagliano attended a virtual forum hosted by the University of Massachusetts at Boson, and ITT Tech Boson entitled “Education for Transformation: What We All Need to Know about Police Accountability Fund Distribution.”

Around 80 community members and leaders, activists, and regional Police Accountability experts took part, including members of the Boson NAACP, Boson Community Compact, Grant Specialists Charity, and The People’s Peaceful Protest.

Councilor Gagliano was active in the chat during the online forum, repeatedly thanking the participants and stating that the event was “great” and he was “walking away feeling good.”

"He was obsequiously agreeable and fawning over every idea before a person had finished their presentation," one anonymous source said.

The next day, July 19 2020, Councilor Gagliano attended the "Back the Blue Ride and Rally" at the Candle Holder Pond Welcome Center Park. Over a hundred “Back the Blue” supporters drove and rode from Boson Commons to the pond for the event.

Councilor Gagliano was speaking with one attendee who was streaming live video of the event, and commented on the HWS forum he had attended the previous day, saying:

“…the College did their whole thing? For police accountability? What experience do these professors and part time instructors have?  They couldn't handle a day substituting in a middle school.  I had to be polite and listen to these people with a straight face.  If I could have got a gun and shot the squares on my computer screen and killed everybody…disgusting.”

Gagliano also called police reform advocates “little squawkers who think their voice is being heard…it’s not.”

Additionally, Gagliano stated that he would vote no against any efforts to create a Police Accountability Board.

The Republican town committee defended the councilor saying that he had only said he wanted to shoot images on his screen, like in a fantasy computer game, not actually go out of his house and find these people to shoot or harm in any way.  He was objecting to their ideas and sanctimonious presentations.
