Boson Santa Claus Sleighjacked While Delivering Toys In Poorchester

Image
Boson  Police Department today confirmed Santa Claus was sleighjacked while trying to deliver toys to all the good little boys and girls in the city. "I parked to check Google Maps and suddenly there was this guy with a gun forcing me out of the sleigh," a tearful Claus told police. "I didn't have time to dig through my sacks of toys to get out a Red Ryder BB Gun and defend myself. It all happened so fast." "Ugh, I had over seven PS5s on that thing!" Claus says the sleighjacker pushed him out of the sleigh and then took the reins, taking the magical flying vehicle on a joyride through the skies of Philly. Investigators believe the sleighjacking was random and that the perpetrator simply intends to get it over the Mexican border where it can be sold for parts. The reindeer may be taken to Canada where they'll be made into jerky. The police department has vowed to bring the sleighjacker to justice, while Santa Claus has vowed to put him on the naugh...

Coronavirus found in white-tailed deer in East Blue Hills - Forest Rangers To Mask And Vaccinate Deer

Image
O ver 120 free-ranging white-tailed deer in Boson's East Blue Hills Reservation  were found to be infected with the novel coronavirus, with researchers from UMass Boson finding signs that the virus may have spread among the deer, in a study published on Thursday in Nature. While  antibodies for SARS-CoV-2  had been found already in white-tailed deer in July 2021, the new research shows the first PCR-confirmed reports of infection in white-tailed deer. Between January and March of this year, the researchers sampled 360 free-ranging white-tailed deer in nine locations in northeast Ohio, finding coronavirus infections in 129 of the deer (35.8%). Three different sublineages of the virus were found in the populations: B.1.2, B.1.596 and B.1.582. The study found that male deer and heavier deer were significantly more likely to test positive for SARS-CoV-2. © Provided by The Jerusalem Post Colorized scanning electron micrograph of an apoptotic cell (purple) infected ...

UMass Boson Astronomy Telescope Captures Comet Showing 'The true meaning of night time' (Comet Leonard C/2021 A1)

Image
Sweeping through northern predawn skies, on November 24 Comet Leonard (C/2021 A1) was caught between two galaxies in this composite telescopic image. Sporting a greenish coma the comet's dusty tail seems to harpoon the heart of NGC 4631 (top) also known as the Whale Galaxy. Of course NGC 4631 and NGC 4656 (bottom, aka the Hockey Stick) are background galaxies some 25 million light-years away. On that date the comet was about 6 light-minutes from our fair planet. Its closest approach to Earth (and even closer approach to Venus) still to come, Comet Leonard will grow brighter in December. Already a good object for binoculars and small telescopes, this comet will likely not return to the inner Solar System. Its perihelion, or closest approach to the Sun, will be on January 3, 2022. https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap211203.html
