Anti-Up Skirt Protest - Young Woman Protests at North Wollaston T Station Against Intrusive Photo Taking - Opposes the 'Male Gaze' By Showing Panties - 22 March 2020
A young Boson woman has staged a solo protest by pulling up
her skirt on the North Wollaston T subway, protesting so-called upskirting –
the practice wherein men take pictures under the skirt of an unaware
victim.
“This is ‘dedicated’ to all who love to peek under skirts. On the behalf all women who became your victims – here, look! And stay away from us,” the caption on a Youtube video reads.
Several years ago a Massachusetts court ruled that existing law did not permit the arrest of men, or women, taking photos of a person in public without the person's permission. If a person is in public, anyone can take a photo of them.
The Massachusetts state legislators acted with uncharacteristic haste and passed enabling legislation the next day and the governor signed the bill immediately.
One legislator said, "I couldn't sleep that night after seeing a series of the 'upskirt' pictures," to think of all those women being photographed with no knowledge of the event. They were suffering silently, and they didn't even know it. Will they ever recover if they didn't even know it happened?"
A fund was set up to hire counselors for women who had been graphically violated without knowing they had been photographed.
Boson mayoral candidate City Council President Ema Strickland who is openly gay was visibly angry when she addressed reporters outside city hall. "The female body was not created for the 'male gaze.' I intend to introduce a local ordinance that goes further than the state law and punish 'upskirters' with jail time."
A Boson Islamic Society spokesperson said, "women should not leave the home unless they are accompanied by a male relative, and a woman who is covered from head to toe in a burka will not be 'upskirted.' Islamic men, of course, have the right to punish infidel women in any way they please."
Boson's Transgender Alliance condemned the activist as a bigot and TERF (Transgender Exclusive Retro Feminist) who did not even mention Transgendered females who have transitioned from male to female.
Anna Dovely responded, "I have never heard of anyone 'upskirting' a trannie." She added, "please don't tell me they are going to protest in the same way."
Boson Police Department have warned that they will arrest Anna Dovely for indecent exposure if she 'demonstrates' in a similar fashion. A police detail has been posted at North Wollaston Red Line T station.
Boson's National Rifle Association noted that women who are armed are dangerous to intrusive men, and to oppressive governments.
Councilor Strickland responded angrily, "Violence is never the answer. No woman who is not a police officer should have a gun. A woman being armed only reduces her to the level of the Patriarchy. We don't want women to 'up pants' men as a response to being upskirted."
This reporter pointed out that Councilor Strickland often had an armed security detail with her after claiming she had received death threats.
"That's different," a visibly angry Councilor Strickland responded. "I'm a government official. We have a need to armed protection."
Boson's informal 'upskirting' community refused to respond to requests for comment. "We prefer to stay behind the camera," a freelance upskirter responded by email. "We want the focus on our subjects, not on ourselves."
