The Dream of Extinction Rebellion Is Coming True - Boson's Green Party Welcomes Decrease in Air Travel, Vehicle Traffic, and Work - 19 March 2020

(UPI) Boson's Green Party held an online presser to express support for a complete government ordered shutdown of all economic activity.  Green Party activists point to the success in Asia at reducing the human carbon footprint.

The levels of pollution in the city of Wuhan, China have gone way down as the Stalinist dictatorship of China ordered a shutdown of the city.

With little care for public opinion the Maoists of China can order people around like soldiers.  Things are not as easy in the US, according to the Boson Green Party spokesperson.

"We call for the complete shutdown of Boson International Airport," the spokesperson said.  "While there is reduced traffic across the globe and in other New England airports, Boson Airport has actually seen an increase in landings because of the lower fees, and reputation for lax inspection upon landing."

Boson has seaside oil import facilities and storage tanks which help keep the price of gasoline down in the city.  Demand for oil has fallen, and fewer automobiles clog the streets of even famously gridlocked Southeast Expressway at the western edge of the city. But perhaps the most noticeable change is visible in the Neponset River, which forms Boson's northern border.  Harsh lockdown measures imposed by Massachusetts Governor Charles Baker over the objections of Boson Mayor Welsh, have kept the normal throngs of tourists and fishermen away. The city’s once-murky riverside waters are now clear, and Bosonians have spotted fish swimming in waterways that once seemed like open sewers.

UMass Boson Professor Mortricia McCormack, in the department of continental philosophy, is an author and Green Party member.  In a recently released book Prof McCormack has called for a gradual 'human extinction' to help save the planet.  "While I never called for an immediate end to the human race," Prof McCormack said during the online presentation, "I think we can all welcome the reduction of the herd of humans who take so much from the Planet Earth and give so little back."

Professor McCormack denounced Boson ITT Tech, a for profit private college, for staying open during the state wide shut-downs.  "The idea that you can simply hand out hazardous material outfits to students and tell them to go to class is sheer lunacy.  This shows why we need 'green capitalism' where bosses figure out how to make money without putting everyone at risk of dying.  We look forward to a slow death of the human species through attrition as the Extinction Rebellion."

Boson's Green Party recently paid to put a large bill board featuring Greta Thunberg on a building in downtown Boson.

Prof McCormack added, "Once things are back to normal, the environmental debate will likely start anew. The Greta Thunbergs of the world can point to the current, virus-induced environmental uptick as proof that humans can – when push comes to shove – give up the carbon "addiction."  However, remember that if your leaders are serious about meeting the climate goals they promise to, the lifestyle changes they ask of you will need to be enforced with the machinery of the state."

In ‘Discipline and Punish’, postmodern theorist Michel Foucault noted that in the Middle Ages, the bubonic plague could only be controlled by “omnipresent and omniscient” surveillance, coupled with draconian punishment for those who violate the lockdown. Foucault called the plague a “political dream,” which gave the powerful justification to regulate the “smallest details of everyday life.”
State-enforced travel bans and mandatory isolation are extreme measures for a desperate time. Don’t let the environmental crusaders make them a blueprint for the future.

And while you’re at it, ask Greta whether the current drop in emissions has pushed back that ‘12 years to doom’ prediction we heard so much about.
