Risen Christ! Here In My Car! - 'If Beer Is Essential, So Is Easter!' - Boson County Court Rules Drive-In Easter Service Can Go Ahead

Boson's First Ebeneezer Baptist Church located in the old Sears Building at Boson Mall has won a court case allowing the church to have an Easter celebration and religious service in the parking lot of the mall.  After Boson Chief of Police issued a warning to the church on Good Friday lawyers for the church got an emergency injunction from a judge in Boson County Court.  The ruling came with unusual speed because of the harm that the plaintiffs felt they would suffer by not having this important religious Holy Day have a meeting to honor God.

But Massachusetts Governor Charles Baker has asked the State Police to take down the license plates of any who are gathered for church services.  The Department of Public health will make follow up visits to the homes of any who violate the governors order, unless they are going into the nearby convenience store for 'essential foods.'   Boson County Jail has been releasing prisoners to free up space to house COVID-19 quarantine violators.

The Christians felt that God had helped them win the last minute victory from the judge so that the service can go on.  They are crossing their fingers that no one gets sick.

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there" said Jesus Christ, the church lawyers asserted.  They also pointed out that "the English word 'church' came from a Greek word that ekklēsia which does not mean a building, or an organization, but 'a gathering'  or 'those who are called out.'  An early Christian 'church' was understood to be a gathering of believers in Christ. Believers saw themselves as called out by the Holy Spirit to share their belief and love of God with others who have been called out."

Some may be called out in their cars.

So, meetings are very important to certain kinds of Christians and have been a part of Christian practice since the earliest of times.

"The idea that the Boson Chief of Police can close church meetings, even in the church parking lot while allowing liquor stores to stay open because they are an 'essential' public service is a clear discrimination against religious gatherings.  Please note that the church meeting was going to put six feet between cars in the lot.  We were going to broadcast over a radio wave that could be picked up on the car radio or streaming service.  No windows down.  But the police said 'no.'  They want to save our lives, they claim as the justification.  Christians have a history of standing up to governments to practice Christian religious rituals.  We must meet to affirm our faith in Christ."

Meanwhile restaurants that only allow take-out or delivery are allowed to stay open without question because restaurant food is 'essential?'

There are Christians who believe that Jesus changed water into wine at a wedding after supplies ran out early.  So, there is some Christian association with the pleasures of drinking wine.  But why would the police allow a liquor store to have people in the liquor store parking lot for 'pick ups' and 'outside delivery' while not allowing other types of parking lot use?

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Governor Charles Baker while ordering local police to stop Easter religious services has not stopped the sale of Mass Lottery Tickets at liquor stores across the state or at Boson's numerous liquor stores.   The church group is hoping that some of the people going to the liquor store in the same parking lot might stop and listen to the sermon and join in the singing from their cars.

One local favorite is the Hymn - Boson Arise - The Long Dark Night Is Over

But, others might want to go an sip there wine, or beer, or whatever in peace somewhere in the spring sunshine alone in their car.  Some people have thought that alcohol kills the virus, or any virus. So, they use alcohol.
