Boson House Of Toast Restaurant Closing - Victim of Changing Tastes and COVIDaster

(UPI) Boson's famed 'House of Toast' restaurant is closing effective immediately the owners have announced.  With the covid restrictions and many months of no income the establishment was not making enough money.

The restaurant was known for its quick service and modest prices for simple fare.

"We sold mostly white bread toast lightly buttered," Frank Cataldo, the owner and manager explained.  "We charged one dollar for a take out order of four slices of toasted white bread.  You can't beat that for price."

On Tuesday nights the restaurant featured a cooking class for anyone who wanted to "Make the Perfect Toast."

"We had whole wheat toast, of course, for the vegan types and whole foods lovers, but, mostly we served plain white bread toast.  We had cinnamon shakers at every table."

"We tried moving outside when the covid restrictions eased and the weather was nicer," Cataldo explained.  "But it wasn't the same.  We had a 'comfy kitchen' feel inside.  We tried putting toasters at tables so people could make their own toast, but we had insurance issues, and the state labor department said we might have to classify customers as employees."

"So... we gave up the ghost," he sighed.  "We're toast."

A last ditch effort to use the culinary knowledge about toasted bread has been placed in the 'House of Toast' Truck food truck that some members of the family have launched.

"We will even pull up in front of your house and make the toast there and bring it piping hot to your front door."
