A novel set in Boson, Massachusetts in 1901.  Sinclair Lewis worked on a ship that called the docks of Boson her home port.  He drank in the waterfront bars, and attended social gatherings to meet and observe the lives of some of Boson's young women.

(AP) With a heavy heart the local franchisees of the '7-11' Convenience Stores has cancelled 'Free Slurpee Day' Summer 2020.   Summer has not been cancelled, of course, but the company attempt to get some free publicity while handing out a couple of hundred dollars worth of flavored ice has been stopped. The company is hoping that the announcement of the cancellation will itself become free publicity.  The odd 'slurpee' spelling is the companies pathetic attempt to copyright the idea of putting a flavored juice onto ice.  The company will still provide 'free water' to any patron who brings their own cup to the water fountain provided.   A company spokesman noted that 'we don't get much free publicity for the free water offer.' (AP) The hoped for launch of the Church of Christ in Jesus rocket to the heavens has been delayed yet again by an Iron Workers labor union strike.  The highly paid skilled workers are demanding even higher pay and safer working conditions. While over 5,000 workers were killed on the job last year across the US, many from falls at construction sites like the Boson Space Port assembly area, church authorities have urged the workers to consider the direct to heaven path of workers who die on the job building religious vehicles. "God takes care of his own," Reverend John Smith assured listeners to his weekly podcast calling for an end to the strike.  "We are all God's children." Grizzly There was never any scientifically-sound reason to clearcut and bulldoze new logging roads into the roadless lands tucked along the East Blue Hills Reservation.
