Boson 7 - 11 Stores Cancell 'Free Slurpy Day' Due To COVIDaster - Water Still Free - No Straws Allowed

Image
(AP) With a heavy heart the local franchisees of the '7-11' Convenience Stores has cancelled 'Free Slurpee Day' Summer 2020.   Summer has not been cancelled, of course, but the company attempt to get some free publicity while handing out a couple of hundred dollars worth of flavored ice has been stopped. The company is hoping that the announcement of the cancellation will itself become free publicity.  The odd 'slurpee' spelling is the companies pathetic attempt to copyright the idea of putting a flavored juice onto ice.  The company will still provide 'free water' to any patron who brings their own cup to the water fountain provided.   A company spokesman noted that 'we don't get much free publicity for the free water offer.' Boson's Green Party denounced the '7-11' s for not combating global warming since they still offer free plastic straws with drinks served in plastic cups.  The stores are once again offering p...

Boson Space Port Iron Workers Strike Delays 'Kids Letters to God' - Church Rocket Launch to Heaven Can Wait

Image
(AP) The hoped for launch of the Church of Christ in Jesus rocket to the heavens has been delayed yet again by an Iron Workers labor union strike.  The highly paid skilled workers are demanding even higher pay and safer working conditions. While over 5,000 workers were killed on the job last year across the US, many from falls at construction sites like the Boson Space Port assembly area, church authorities have urged the workers to consider the direct to heaven path of workers who die on the job building religious vehicles. "God takes care of his own," Reverend John Smith assured listeners to his weekly podcast calling for an end to the strike.  "We are all God's children." The space vehicle has been built with monies donated to the church over the last five years as The Most Reverend Smith devoted all his efforts to sending a message to the heavens with the prayers of children as the cargo.  Over two tons of 'Kids Letters to God' h...

'Sir Gawain And The Green Line' - A Modern Retelling Calls For Climate Justice - (UMass Boson Press)

Image
Sir Gawain and the Green Line (colonial English Grene Lynte was a late 19th-century neo-romantic story of a local knight of the East Blue Hills and Pleasant Valley who resists the monopolistic rail road being built through Boson and Massachusetts Southern Shore.  It is one of the best known of the "Twain Circle" of writers who gathered in Boson pubs before the American Civil War.   Mark Twain, or Samuel Clements, worked for a while on the barges on the Neponset River.  In those days people seem to spend more time telling each other stories.  Earlier Version of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight It is one of the best known Bosonian stories, with its plot combining two types of recent European immigrant worker motifs, the beheading game and the exchange of winnings. Written in stanzas of alliterative verse , each of which ends in a rhyming bob and wheel , [1] it draws on Welsh , Irish and English stories, as well as the French chivalric tradition. It i...

How We Stopped Trump From Trashing the East Blue Hills Grizzly Habitat - by Seth Rich (Witness Protection Blog) 6 July 2020

Image
Grizzly There was never any scientifically-sound reason to clearcut and bulldoze new logging roads into the roadless lands tucked along the East Blue Hills Reservation. But Trump’s Forest Service is on a cut-and-run tear and decided to do it anyway using the excuse that it would save the city’s water supply from the nearby Neponset River.  The Alliance for the East Blue Hills and Native Ecosystems Council challenged that decision in federal court.  We are thrilled to announce that the Court ruled ordered the Forest Service to halt any logging and burning in the East Blue Hills woods and Crazy Man Valley Inventoried Roadless Areas, which are a significant part of the State Reservation Forest. The Court’s Order clearly identified the roadless lands in the 6,000 acre project as “biological strongholds for deer and grizzly bears” and noted that the Project’s addition of new logging roads and non-motorized mountain bike trails in grizzly bea...

Hands off Lincoln and the Emancipation Memorial! Defend the legacy of the Civil War! No to John Wilkes Booth Statue (Boson Workers) 4 July 2020

Image
The unanimous decision of the Boson Art Commission (BAC) Tuesday to remove the Emancipation Group, a public monument to Abraham Lincoln and the ending of slavery, is a reactionary attack on the progressive legacy of the Civil War that will have far-reaching consequences. The public monument that is to be removed and “temporarily” placed into storage is a replica of the Emancipation Memorial in Washington, DC, depicting Abraham Lincoln with his arm outstretched over a formerly enslaved man rising up from the ground, his shackles broken and his eyes to the sky and right fist thrust outward. The base reads “Emancipation.” That such an attack on Lincoln and the progressive legacy of the Civil War can take place in Massachusetts, the cradle of the American Revolution that contributed so much to the fight against the slave power, is an indication of deep historical ignorance among the general population that has been encouraged by the Democratic and Republican parties fo...

Deer Statue Pulled Down As Protesters Run Out of Confederate and Union Generals to Topple

Image
On Friday night, 3 July 2020, demonstrators defaced the seemingly benign statue and lit a series of fires around its base, quickly engulfing the horned effigy in flames, while some shouted slogans against eating any kind of meat.     The sculpture of the deer has stood for over 150 years was toppled in Boson Commons by iconoclastic anarchist activists opposed to any and all iconography.  Citing Islamic restrictions on any depiction of any person or creature created by Allah the organizers claim to be making a 'safe space' for Islamic immigrants.           "Imagine coming to America from Africa, or the Middle East and having Western art thrust upon you simply for visiting a public park?"  said one masked activist.  "Make Boson safe for Islam, is one of the things we are asking for."    A Vegan in the crowd explained through a bull horn that the statue was a celebration of the abhorrent...

East Blue Hills: Group Camping Out In Woods Just Happy To Be Released From Boson County Jail Due to COVIDaster

Image
Boson MASS---Acknowledging that getting the chance to relax in nature was its own reward, a group of longtime friends camping out in the woods confirmed Wednesday that they were just happy to escape the daily grind of Boson County Jail.  “It sounds like the simplest thing in the world, but it’s unbelievably nice to sit by the Candle Holder Pond and think your own thoughts for an afternoon without the rigid structure of jail life,” said convict Jesse Howell, who like his friends claimed that sitting against a tree feeling the breeze in his hair was a nice change from the rat race of roll call, meals, and 15 minutes in the exercise yard.  “My pals and I have been planning a trip like this for five to seven months, so it’s nice to finally kick back and bask in the beauty of the natural world. Just look at all these stars—you can’t even see them back at The Boson Town House, as we like to call the jail, what with the light pollution and the 12 inch...

Gov Baker Orders Massachusettites To Only Launch Fireworks Indoors This Year - COVID-1984

Image
Boson MASS—Governor Charles Duane Baker Jr.  held a somber press conference today where he instructed residents of the commonwealth on how to celebrate the traditional summer holiday on the 4th of July in the age of COVID-1984. "Independence Day will be very 'independent' this year as we urge everyone to shelter in place while setting off individual size fire works," the governor said. "Of course anyone who launches an infernal device inside a home should wear a full face mask with plastic eye shields, or safety glasses, and obviously ear plugs," Governor Baker continued.  "Look up the rules on the state website." "I know you all want to go out and celebrate how free you are," he said, "but fortunately, our state is not governed by some antique Constitution written by slave owners and slave owner enablers. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is governed by science!" Indoor Fireworks (0:59 min) When the g...
