Boson Police Fire Tear Gas At Anti-Police Protesters At Fenwick Park - Blue Stockings Baseball Game Halted - 4 Aug 2020

Image
(AP) Moving in formation across the first-base line as players scrambled into the dugout Anti-Police Violence protesters occupied the center field and pitcher's mound behind a wall of makeshift shields and umbrellas. On the other side of the field the Boson Police riot squad came in to confront the mostly peaceful protesters.  A rain of plastic water bottles and chunks of grass sailed through the air to strike the police officers shields and helmets.  An order to disperse came over a police loud speaker.  An officer stepped forward with a heavy short rifle and fired a pellet that released tear gas in front of the protesters huddled on the pitcher's mound. The protesters dispersed and reassembled on the streets outside the ball park.  "We made out point," one protester with a bullhorn said.

Police and Their “Unions” Have No Place As Members Of The Labor Union Movement (Boson Workers) 2 Aug 2020

Image
Amidst nationwide protests ignited by the racist police murder of George Floyd, union members everywhere are asking: how can labor throw its weight into the fight to uproot racist repression?  Using our collective power as workers is key. The multiracial working class makes the country’s wheels turn, and can bring them to a halt just as quickly. We have the power to shut down factories and docks, farms and urban transport, food plants and phone service. And now is the time to use it. But it’s also high time the labor movement cleans its own house. In fact, it’s long overdue. As mass anger at police killings shines the spotlight on police forces’ role as enforcers of racist repression, the time is now to carry through the demand long raised by class-struggle unionists, summed up...

According to the survey, only 13% of graduating seniors admitted to being atheists by the end of their senior year of Catholic high school, a 10% reduction from the previous year. Students practiced Catholic rites at home Patsy Jenkins, the principal a local Catholic high school, was not happy about the findings, saying that school officials “look forward to better days” when they could "help every student who spends four years in a Catholic high school keep and enjoy their faith in the Teachings of the Church.  We do not want to be turning out any atheists.  But the downward trend is encouraging."  “For the last couple decade...

Boson On Alert As Huge Chinese Fishing Fleet Spotted Off Half Moon Island - Objective? Lobsters

Image
Boson is on alert due to the appearance of a huge fleet of mostly Chinese-flagged fishing vessels off its Half Moon Island. Patrols are trying to ensure the fleet - which is made up of around 260 vessels - does not enter the delicate eco-system from international waters. Chinese vessels travel to the region each year in search of marine species especially the lobsters found in Massachusetts Bay waters. In 2017, a Chinese vessel was caught in the marine reserve with 300 tonnes of wildlife, most of it sharks. "We are on alert, [conducting] surveillance, patrolling to avoid an incident such as what happened in 2017," Boson Mayor Marty Welsh told reporters. There was no immediate comment from the Chinese authorities when contacted by AP News. Mayor Welsh told this reporter via Zoom conference calling that a "protection strategy" was being designed for the island. "Unchecked Chinese fishing just on the edge of the protected zone is ruining Boson's efforts t...

Dining Al Fresco on I93 - Expressy Eats Social Distance - A Median Strip Too Far?

Image
(Diners enjoy an enchanting view of the slopes of the East Blue Hills as the sun sets over Big Blue) (AP) —In an effort to provide residents with a way to more safely patronize restaurants without fear of contracting Covid-19, Boson officials announced a new initiative Tuesday to designate open-air dining areas along the Southeast Expressway I93 freeway median. “We’re thrilled to take this bold step to give Bosonians a chance to dine while enjoying the sights and sounds of the iconic stretch of interstate highway system locally remembered as the Southeast Expressway,” said Mayor Martin Welsh, telling reporters that the designated sections would be spaced out at socially distant intervals and minimize contact with other diners.  Previously there were no pedestrians allowed on the highway area, and eating outside many restaurants on a public sidewalk was not allowed.  The city is allowing all food serving establishments to set up on public sidewalks during the COVIDisaster...

Death Comes to Boson - Grim Reaper Joins School Re-Opening Advocates Protest

The coronavirus crisis is affecting us all, but some groups appear to be more vulnerable than others to the disease. Older people and those with underlying health problems are more likely to experience severe forms of the illness. But that doesn't mean kids can't catch the virus and become seriously poorly. The youngest cases have been infants only a few days old. And there have been a small number of tragic reports of children dying from COVID-19. Researchers at Imperial College London have found a clear link between older age and the likelihood of being hospitalised with coronavirus. But while young, fit people do appear to be far less likely to experience serious complications from COVID-19, even the healthiest (and youngest) of us could experience severe symptoms. A study from China of more than 2,000 children who had contracted COVID-19 found that although the cases were generally less severe in kids compared to adults, children were still vulnerable to ...

After Getting $4.9 Billion Govt Subsidy - Elon Musk Explains 'Das Kapital' - Give Me That For Free (Boson Workers) 29 July 2020

Image
It may come as a surprise to followers of American politics that Elon Musk, the world’s seventh-richest individual, is a great student of Marxism. In between his time running Tesla, SpaceX and his other endeavors, Musk has apparently devoted himself to a significant examination of Marx’s great three-volume work, Das Kapital (Capital). In a tweet Monday afternoon, Musk provided the conclusion of his study. “ Das Kapital in a nutshell,” he wrote, is “Gib me dat for free.” Indeed, a brilliant insight! We can forgive Musk for the use of an informal vernacular, for he has summed up an important fact of capitalism—that the profits accumulated by the capitalist class come from the fact that the value produced by workers is excess of what they are paid in wages—that is, it is “unpaid labor.” Tesla CEO Elon Musk (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong) SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk disavowed his older socialist beliefs and went full Communism-hater on Twitter, after denouncing the satirical outle...
