Boson's Anarchist Claimed Commune "Police Free Zone" Digs In (WNPR) 11 June 2020

Boson MASS (NPR)  On Wednesday Boson City Council President Ema Strickland introduced a resolution to the Boson City Council to praise anti-police violence protesters and urge the Boson Police Department to continue to 'stand down' in the face of numerous occupations and statue destruction across the city.

"It's the least we can do," said a visibly angry Councilor Strickland.  "We must stop police violence against black people and all people of color, and remove Donald Trump from office!"

Councilor Strickland had toured the "Cop Free Zone" and handed out cookies to protesters.

"Things will be different if I am elected mayor," she said.  "The whole city will become a 'Liberated Zone."

When pressed by a crowd of protesters to commit to defunding and disbanding the Boson Police Department Councilor Strickland replied that she was "studying the proposal."

Some of the dissatisfied members of the crowd started to shout "sell out."  One man stepped forward and asked the councilor to kneel before him and apologize for her "white privilege."

"But I'm a Lesbian," Councilor Strickland protested before her personal armed security guards stepped in to usher her away.

Boson Public Radio’s Hanna Scott and Nicole Jennings spent time in the “Zone” Tuesday, watching for hours as a hundred or so people began setting up tents, putting up signs, and preparing to set up camp as part of their ongoing protest against police brutality.

“It was a really energetic day — it was very peaceful,” Hanna reported. “Really a whole different vibe than I’d seen the other nights I’ve been there, a very peaceful experience, almost like a street fair honestly.”

Reporting early in the afternoon Tuesday, Nicole also described free food and medical aid available for demonstrators on every corner. Some food and supplies were also distributed to the homeless people and bums in the surrounding area. The group even reportedly organized its own garbage collection Wednesday morning as several people walked around with large plastic bags and picked up trash and put it in a dumpster.
