Deer Statue Pulled Down As Protesters Run Out of Confederate and Union Generals to Topple
On Friday night,
3 July 2020, demonstrators defaced the seemingly benign statue and lit a
series of
fires around its base, quickly engulfing the horned effigy in flames,
while some shouted slogans against eating any kind of meat.
The sculpture of the deer has stood for over 150 years was toppled in Boson Commons by iconoclastic anarchist activists opposed to any and all iconography. Citing Islamic restrictions on any depiction of any person or creature created by Allah the organizers claim to be making a 'safe space' for Islamic immigrants.
"Imagine coming to America from Africa, or the Middle East and having Western art thrust upon you simply for visiting a public park?" said one masked activist. "Make Boson safe for Islam, is one of the things we are asking for."
A Vegan in the crowd explained
through a bull horn that the statue was a celebration of the abhorrent
desire to dominate nature by hunting animals like deer to kill and eat.
"People should eat plants and vegetables!"
Boson Police have asked the public to help identify
the vandals.
Boson Police said in a statement that the city’s Regional Arts Council had determined that the damage to the bronze statue was “so severe” that the landmark would have to be removed for public safety reasons. Officials fear the statue could topple over again and injure someone, it explained.
This reporter asked one iconoclast why a vote couldn't be held to determine democratically which statues should remain in place.
"Half the population of America, and half the population of Boson are fascistic racists who should not be allowed to vote," he said emphatically. "We should really get these people re-educated. Perhaps some special camps could be set up in the East Blue Hills to concentrate all the efforts at re-education of these troglodytes and reprobates. Why should society put up with people we can't get along with? Enough is enough."
